subspheroid; number of walls: 2
stated in original description, but line drawing suggests 3 layers; wall thickness:
1.5; wall characteristics: outer, striated, thin and granular; inner layer(s)
thicker than striated one; L x W: 23 x 20 (19-27 x 16-23); L/W ratio: 1.15
(1.0-1.3); M: absent; OR: absent; PG: present; number of PGs: 1-2. Distinctive
features of oocyst: lack of OR and peculiar number/arrangement of oocyst wall
layers.
Description of sporocysts and sporozoites:
Sporocyst shape: ellipsoid; L x W: 13
x 7 (11-15 x 6-8); L/W ratio: 1.9 (1.7-2.0); SB: present; SSB: absent; PSB: absent;
SR:
present; SR characteristics: large granules dispersed in center of sporocyst; SP:
elongate with a small anterior RB and a large posterior RB. Distinctive features of
sporocyst: SP with 2 distinct RB.
Prevalence: Unknown.
Sporulation: Exogenous. Oocysts sporulated within 1
wk in 2.5% aqueous (w/v)
potassium dichromate solution at 30ºC.
Prepatent and patent periods: Unknown.
Site of infection: Unknown. Oocysts recovered from
intestinal contents.
Materials deposited: None.
Remarks: This species has not been reported since
its original
description.
